What is Pass Plus?
Pass Plus is a scheme for new
and inexperienced drivers backed by the Government's Driving Standards Agency
(DSA) and certain insurance companies. Please check with your insurance
company if they are part of the Pass Plus scheme before booking your course.
However it is still worth doing the course even if you don't qualify for a
discount. Your life cannot have a price!!
It has been proven that
within the first 2 years of passing a driving test you are more likely to have
an accident then any other time in your driving career. This is why the scheme
has been developed. You have one year from the date of you passing your
practical driving test to apply for the course.
The main aim of this course is to promote
positive driving, to get you away from the "driving like a
learner" stereotype. It will also be your first introduction
to motorway driving.
What is the cost?
A Pass Plus course with Drive
Safe costs £140. You will cover a given module set out as standard by the
DSA, there are 6 modules covering 6 elements and will last at least 6 hours covering
somewhere in the region of 200 miles. Any modules that cannot be covered
practically will be covered in
a theory session on the day (these are normally adverse weather condition
modules). Each module is at least 1 hr long.

Insurance companies offer as
much as 30-35% discount from your first years insurance premium. Example from
one of our pupils was her insurance premium was £990 for a Fiat Punto, with
Virgin Insurance. After completing the Pass Plus course she had a reduction of
£420, take off the cost of the course and she made a saving of £280 and
gained the extra knowledge and skill to become a safer driver.
Who does the course? Is it
an examiner from the DSA?
No, you will go out on the
course with an instructor from Drive Safe who has been Pass Plus registered
with the DSA and therefore fully qualified to teach the modules. At the end of
the course the instructor will along with you sign the declaration form and we
will send it to the DSA in Nottingham, they then send to you a certificate
direct for you pass onto your insurance company to gain your discount.
